Unfortunately, as I look at all the files on my computer of manuscripts I realize that I am in desperate need to edit. Usually I start editing something but decide to runaway from it a quarter of the way through and just start a new book, which is what got me to this point. But I think 2016 is the year I figure out how to direct my energy on editing, so I no longer update my small following with news of rough drafts and instead deliver on more deals.
That is why I am putting this new book on the shelf until mid February and spending my time editing a few older manuscripts in need of some attention. Hopscotch and Keyes, my first piece. I finished it in April 2014 and have done some edits but nothing substantial. It is a crime comedy following two career criminals who accidentally stumble back into each other's lives for one last job. Something About Maud, which follows Jessica, a female high school student dealing with constant harassment from an anonymous cyber bully. With the help and guidance of vivacious elderly woman, Jessica finds her inner superhero and fights off her inner demons of doubt and despair. And of course the third manuscript I need to edit is Lost Boys. What makes Lost Boys different from the previous two is it actually has undergone significant edits and earned a publishing deal with a small press. However I asked for the rights back and hope to clean it up a bit more to better fit my final vision.
2016 is my clean up year. I started lifting weights again so I feel good. I hope this confidence can carry me through the whole year because.... editing is exhausting!
